The
Historic Madie Carroll House is 200 Years Old This Year
In
1810, it was brought down on a flatboat from Gallipolis, Ohio,
and setup on the exact spot it occupies today.
The
Town of Guyandotte, now incorporated into Huntington, was founded
in 1810 as well.
Therefore,
we are planning a big celebration and you are invited. Please
mark your calendars for Thursday, July 1, 2010, to watch our parade
and attend our opening ceremonies. Friday, July 2 until
Sunday July 4 there will be heritage presentations, music, encampments,
historic tours, a dance, fireworks, and a reunion dinner.
Keep checking back and I will put up a full schedule once we have
one finalized.
Please
mark your calendars and come!!!!
Also,
please send in your memories of Guyandotte, five hundred words
or less, and photographs to put in our program / history book
for the 200th Anniversary. If you have stories told to you
by your parents or grandparents, please include them as well.
Please email the memory stories and photographs to knnance@comcast.net.
